With the summer dog days upon us I decided to change gears and do a little night fishing on John's lake.  This is different than day fishing and I am far from an expert at it.  I managed a few good fish before it got dark in the deer island cut on a yo zuri rattling vibe.  As night fell I armed myself with a black buzz bait, black spinner bait and the old night favorite a black jitterbug.  We had a lot of storms and rain during the day and we had a lot of cloud cover after dark,  needless to say I never had a strike after dark!!!
One great thing about night fishing is that it is much cooler than being tortured by the day time heat and it is very peaceful.  Take plenty of bugspray and use your running lights at night.  I will try this again when we have a clear night and the moon is up.  Stay cool during the dog days!!!
