Today I had a six hour guide trip on Johns lake.  This was a part shiner and part artifical trip.  We started the moring off in the deer island cut waiting for the schoolers to show up.  Schooling activity was there but not in full force.  We managed a few good fish on the shiners but the bass ignored our topwaters and drop shot rigs.

We then moved to the horseshoe area and waited on more schoolers,  they were there but again not in full force.  We caught a few more good keeper bass on the shiners from this area and a few small ones on the zara spook.

A move to the cut between the main lake and clear lake was the next area we hit.  This was the best area of the day with the wind blowing right down the cut the shiner rods really got slammed in here with two rods going off at the same time.  Yo zuri rattling vibes also produced a couple of nice three pounders in this area.

Clear lake and the black lake area produced nothing so we called it a day.  We had a very happy client and using the wind to our advantage was the key to a good day on the water.

Shiners and the yo zuri vibes were the dominant baits for the day.  Water temps were down to 84 degrees so we are making progress on getting rid of summer.

Good fishing,
Captain Al Bella
