Hello, my name is Ed Franklin. Welcome to UltimateBass.com. I live in Gobles, MI, which is a small community in the Kalamazoo area. I have lived in this area all my life, graduating from Parchment High School in 1979.  I began working as a licensed mechanic right out of high school and continued to do so full time for the next 26 years. At the same time, I got joined a local volunteer fire department, which got me involved in the field of emergency medicine. I got my EMT license in 1992 and now work full time for a local private ambulance service. I am married to a wonderful women and have one daughter, a 13 y/o who is the love of my life.

Having grown up in a state where you cannot travel more than five miles in any direction without hitting a lake, I, like many others here in Michigan,  have been fishing since I was about six years. I got involved in tournament fishing last year. I fish with Kal-Valley Bass Club, of which this site’s own Kal-Kevin is tournament director. It is an excellent club, especially for beginners. It is filled with very patient, helpful people. My partner, John, and I qualified for the classic in Muskegeon, MI last September and had a great weekend. I became involved with this site at the urging of Kal-Kevin and was immediately hooked. I recently had the honor of being asked to join the staff of UltimateBass.com and gladly accepted.
