So I just fell in love with Bass fishing. I used to read anything I could find on Bass fishing and Bass Pros and would almost go every day. I kept fishing into my twenties, but I was also an action sports guy, skateboarding, snowboarding, and motocross and soon I didn't fish anymore. I'm in my forties now and a few of my buddies still go fishing and that got me wanting to get back in to fishing. So the idea for the app came from when one of my buddies was over and telling me about the fishing trip he had just went on. So I asked him what he did with the fish and his response was we take pictures of them and throw them back. Well it wasn't right then but a few days later I was at a local pond trying out my new gear and I started thinking how cool it would be if I could use my IPhone to record all of my catches and not just a picture but the location and other info. I ended up going home that night and started designing what I thought would be the perfect mobile application that would help me keep track of all of my fishing experiences. I started in May 09 and released the first version on App Store at the end of July 09. I've had great responses and feedback from users and the best thing is I get to use the app too. I think that my passion for Bass fishing has helped me make an application that everyone can use. One of the main goals was to make sure that while out fishing the app was simple, quick and easy to record a new catch with little impact on fishing. The workflow was very important and having as many of the common fields filled in automatically was a big key for ease of use. The next thing was how to do analysis on catches. Filters were added to the fishing log view so the user can sort and filter data based on baits, location, time and more. Be sure to check out their product here in the Tackle Reviews, After The Catch and if you have had the opportunity to use their product please leave a review. |
