Soooooo, I was able to get my hands on a new action camera and Yolo-tec Power Stick. Shout out to P_M and BK for their help. ~beer~ Thank you guys!!
The new GoPro will capture the fishing moments with a birds eye view of what I'm doing, and I can utilize the Akaso vlog camera for my intro's, break downs, and closings. :-*
Exciting stuff!! Both the GoPro and Powerstick are on their way, I'm hoping to have them all delivered by the end of the week, and film and post up another video next week. Be on the look out!! :)

I hated the price of Go Pro's, which is one of the reasons I bought my Virb. Plus I like Garmin. But, I need to look at cameras again. I'm going to look up those posts that Mike made about his new camera, and maybe see if he has any updates before I decide. I believe that he didn't care for the audio?

Just an FYI, that multi head USB cable lasted about 2 hours for me. Not sure why, but it just quit charging any of my cameras. One piece of advise for filming in the boat, always carry a few extra cables and the heavier duty cable the better.

Broke in my new Yolo-tek and Gopro yesterday. The yolo-tek worked great. The gopro I learned overheats. Researched the issue and found out that using an aluminum housing around the camera will help to cool it off.

Keep us posted of the results. Over temping is a big issue for me. If there is a breeze, it's not so bad, but on the hot windless days I can't record past about 11, can't stand to fish much longer either. :surrender:

This got me to researching a little and it looks like it's a problem for most of the GoPro cameras. I can't believe I didn't pick up on that earlier when I was reading about them. I also read that using slower MicroSD cards and using the highest res settings can contribute to heat problems, but that the biggest contributor is the air temperature and direct sunlight.

This is great and interesting stuff. I wonder if you couldn't build a "shadow box" to house a camera. I would also serve to dampen some wind noise and keep glare down.
I'll build them and market it along side my custom IBASS bump board. Probably not.

Took out the little boat today. I don't have a light connection on this boat yet, so I couldn't use my Yolo-tec. I had to shoot video with camera strapped to my hat. Battery lasted for about 3 hours. Then I used I my battery charger.

And....it was hot, humid, and the camera NEVER over heated. That $10 aluminum case is the real deal.

I don't remember my Garmin ever getting hot, at least not enough to shut it down. It did use more battery when the temps were extreme.

Perusing through Yolo-Tec's website for a modification we're working on for the BassHunter, I came across this LED light. Although its used for recording purposes. It can also serve as an awesome spot light via the Power Stick for those early dark mornings or evenings, especially out on those dark ramps. :-* For night fishing applications they also sell additional light filters in red, green, or blue. :-* I will provide you guys with some first impressions when it arrives this week. ;)

See, here's me. I've pondered on this ever since this last post by Lou was made- what in the world is TS Fred. Now here it is after midnight the next morning, and it dawns on me. Florida. I took the Powerlight out last night just to see how much it illuminates, and its pretty bright. A feature that I was not aware of was this light can be used as stand alone spot light, meaning it can be operated without it being connected to the Powerstick. I spoke with Christian from Yolo-tec yesterday, and asked how long the light could be operated once fully charged. His response to me was 1.5 hrs on the full brightness setting, and 2.5 hrs on the low brightness setting.
I'm looking forward to trying out this light for night fishing applications in the Glades. I can attach a red light filter, and illuminate the area with red light vs white. This way I can preserve my night vision a bit, and have sufficient light to pick out casting targets that were otherwise in the dark. Very helpful with avoiding alligators. :-* :-* And!! I can still use my action camera!! This just got really interesting. Hmmmm..... :-* :-*
