Title: Lake Fork?
Post by: fishinforsanity on July 24, 2014, 09:39:11 AM
Hey guys, where is a good, hopefully inexpensive, place to stay overnight at Fork? Thinking about taking the boys over for a 2 day trip this weekend.

Lake fork marina is not that bad on price. But it's definitely worth it. Very clean, restaurant at the marina, launch ramp, all the tackle you might need in the shop.

I think you can get a room (you and the boys) for $69 a night.

I think it was Lake Fork Marina that we stayed at last year. It's on the west side of the lake right before you get to the bridge. Good ramps and the room was nice. Send Cork or Gullo a PM as they can tell you for sure. I know I just pitched in $ so not sure what the rate was.

Lake Fork Marina is a nice place, as Rudy said, easy access to all you'll need.

Sorry Read the post below.... My phone was acting weird and it posted in the wrong thread.... I've since moved it here.

I agree and we enjoy our time at Lake Fork Marina   ~c~  Now http://www.lakeforkresort.com/ (http://www.lakeforkresort.com/) will save you a little bit on price and the hotel isn't bad at all AND they have a pool  ~beer~

Lake Fork Marina is usually our first choice, but when it is full we go to Minnow Bucket.  They both have a good restaurant right there.

3/4 oz Football jigs and find steep drop off into 30+ ft of water.  Take a lot of em...they are not weedless...lol

I agree with everone else on LFM...very nice and they have tackle and the dinning facility right there.

Hope you and the boys have a great time..

hey elwood, the NuTech 3/4 Blitz football jig might be just what you or anyone else might need to take a look at.  more snag proof and better hookups means more bass in the boat.

for those of you that are planning a trip to fork, you can find NuJig technology products at Lake Fork Trophy Lures.

Lake Fork Marina.  The tackle store is second to none they got everything.  The room I stayed in was super clean the Restaurant is right next door.  The food was excellent " The pie was a knockout"

Have a great trip and take lots of pics.  I had a guided trip out of there with Lance Vick.  He put us on fish all day long.  We fished his way points with Shaky Heads and Deep diving crankbaits.  My trip was an Aug trip if I remember right.

Just made our reservation! Bo, I have been putting the NuTechs to work here lately! My youngest also caught his lifetime best 5lb 15oz on the jig 2 weeks ago. Keep up the good work!

WOW!!  that is a whopper!!  looks like you have some catching up to do :).  you have a great fishing partner!

if you stop by lake fork trophy lures, i am sure that ronnie parker or any of their staff can give you some good direction on what the bass are doing there.  if you need a guide, they can get you hooked up too.

Havent been to Fork in a few years.  But i would stay at mustang and fish at night.  A craw worm or a big 12" worm would be a good bet.  Find the grass close to deep water..

+1 on the night fishing.  Throw some Hag's Tornadoes around light docks.

i have also done very well on the black widow on fork at night.  i love night fishing.  part of that is because of my job over the years, and also because table rock is so clear, night fishing is always better.

Also...how easy is the lake to get around? Is it obvious where you can run?

Boat rows are marked well with bouy's....you buy achip for your GPS or a map and everything is easy to navigate.

Marked fairly well for the boat rows but if you do use lake fork marina you can't run out to the boat row you have to idle a long ways!! And we Def hit stuff every time we came in and out of it. The lower part of the lake is wide open but I know the flooded timber is everywhere in the creek arms

Let me know what you think of Lake Fork Marina. I'm planning a first time trip to fork during the spawn next year and wanting to stay there.

Ben, your partner has my nav chip in his boat called "boat lanes" borrow it it shows all the guide trailers off the beaten path.  Extremely helpful. You can by your own at Lake Fork Marina or The Minnow Bucket

Well I officially got my ass kicked! We caught a total of 2 bass for the two days and they were tiny. Gonna have to make another trip soon, by myself, and really work some of the deep stuff. Spot after spot full of bait and large "fish".

I did the samething last fall but I caught one 6 pound slot and a 9.5 pound over that took big fish......two decent bites but that was it for two days.

It is a big change from 5 ft of water to 35 ft of water.  It was all I could do to wait on the jig to reach the bottom...lol
