I have been searching everywhere for 3 years. Prices were ridiculous for these. Finally, just finally, I found one in really good shape for a killer price. I have bought a few reels from this Japan vender, and they are always what he describes. This one was no exception. Here she is, one of my highest Holy Grail reels.
Its perfect. And its soo tiny! I spooled it last night and tossed it a bit this morning. Very pleased with the abilities of this reel. This will be great for my T Rigged lizards as it will keep me slowed down a bit with them.
~c~ ~c~ ~c~ Well Done
Yep, don't have a clue what I'd use it for but it sure is purdy.
Played with it a bit on lunch and caught a bass on it. I will say that it is gonna take a bit to get used to this reels ergonomics. But overall Im really liking this thing. I jusg need to find a rod that compliments the palmability of this reels shape.
<")))>{
It looks really nice! I looked it up cause I got curious. Good review on that thing. But that 70mm handle would drive me insane. I have issues with 85mm being to small.
For me that would be one of those reels I would put up on the shelf as decoration lol.

Its not really a typical round reel as its not bulky at all. It does still palm a bit different than say a low profile reel, but its in no way as bulky as a 100 or 200 series Calcutta.
I actually just got the Morrum ZX and I love it for swimbaits. Feel like the round reel really excels at that.

Actually hate the way it sits on the seat Dobyns uses. As much as I hated the seat on the Fenwick Aetos, this reel feels better in hand on it. Cant figure that out. Lol

No way! That Aetos seat is horrible! That tiny nub for a trigger destroys my finger on hooksets. I can't imagine any reel feeling good on that rod. lol
Beautiful reel!! Always great to finally find the reel that you have been looking for so long at a decent price and in great shape! Congrats
Beautiful reel! Congrats!
Decided to do some poking around for something to accent this reel. I found a nice gold, swept 90mm handle that will accept Daiwa knobs. I guess now I have a place for those RCS corks I've been holding on to. It's gonna be a good while before I see this handle, but will be worth the wait.

How much does that reel weigh? Kind of want one for my finesse cranking, I use a px type r on that rod now but I think I might prefer something a tad slower.

Like 7oz? Its really light. But mines a 50 series, so it dont hold much line. The 100/200 is a total different animal in size. The new models that are out have a smaller palm plate area. So the 100 is kind of similar to my 50 in size on the palm plate. But that is a $500 reel.

Cool!
I got ambitious tonight and decided that after playing with the CQ enough, it was time to tear into it. When I first got it, the reel was very clean and I was suspicious that it had already been done. After opening up the reel, my suspension was correct. So I added a bit of grease to the gears, and flushed the spool bearings and oiled with Alchemy oil.

They are definitely nice and a right size for what I want. The Conquest Series is expensive!

For one in very good condition you are gonna pay a premium price. With that price comes one of the smoothest reels ever made.
What's your opinion between the B and D series?

I personally think the B series was a nicer reel, but there are many differences of opinions to every person on what they require in a reel. Thus the reason I went with the older Conquest vs a newer one.

Thanks! Many people (internet search) prefer the B series.
And then, there is the Daiwa Luna. How do they compare to the Shimano Calcutta B and D series?
Sorry for asking these questions on your thread.

I dont have any experience with Daiwas round reels. Im sure they are on an equal level though.
Thanks!
Just got this in the mail today. Guy had it up for 275, then apparently got desperate to sell and dropped it to 235. I couldnt resist. Its mint with a Zpi handle. I sold my NIB Zillion Coastal, so I had the coin after that profit. Fair trade off considering these reels will hold value better. So, on the shelf it will go, and ill swap the handles and use the Zpi.

I got some good time out with this reel on its Halo Daylite M F rod. Really put a smile on my face with it spoiled with 8lb diameter mono. Spook JR? Into orbit! One cast was a easy 40yds, and of course a Snakehead nails the bait way out there. But then makes a b line towards and then past my boat. Catching up line was no problem with this reel. As the fish went past the boat it was taking line, and it was going out nice and smooth thanks to the carbon fiber drag. Unfortunately, I had brought a knife to a gunfight as this Snakehead was a good size at about 7 to 8lbs. After a 5 minute fight of it jumping and diving and running, all while having to chase it down at some points with the trolling motor, if found a rock to go under somewhere. That was the end of that. Got nothing but a badly scoared line and a lost spook. SMH. What I got out of it was a huge smile towards this Conquest as it was just an amazing experience.
