I ran across this forum while looking for conversation about the new Tracker 40th Anniv. Heritage Edition boat.  After fishing for over 30 years out of my awesome little 15' SeaNymph BassAttacker with its 30Hp Honda 4-stroke on the back, I have decided to replace her with the slightly larger Heritage.  The Honda has never failed me and has only required basic service since I bought it new in 2002.  I am feeling a little nervous about the Mercury outboard after reading a couple of posts of people with problem Merc's.

As for fishing, I mostly fish lakes in southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts including the Merrimack River.  The river can be fun with smallmouth, largemouth, and an occasional 7 pound Northern Pike.  Best day on the river, two seven pound Northerns, on consecutive casts, using 5 inch slug on 10 lb mono without a steel leader!  What an hour!  ;-)

Welcome again and congrats on the boat purchase.  I was just a day away from purchasing the same one but determined it was just a bit to small for my needs but still love the Heritage.  Think you are going to love it

Welcome yet again!!!  :)

You've got some great fishing within short distances from you. My family owned property on the Concord and Merrimack rivers when I was a kid. Lots of good memories there but never a single 7 lb. northern let alone two. What an experience that must have been.

I live south of Boston, but I called Winnipesaukee my home lake for a lot of years and have fished many  of the lakes in that area. There are good opportunities for a wide variety of fish for sure.

Glad to have another angler from MA join us. Please feel free to post some reports of your outings in the Massachusetts Bass Fishing Reports board.

I'm sure with all your years of fishing experience you have a lot of knowledge to share with us and I look forward to reading your posts and learning from them.  ~sun

Enjoying retirement in the great Pacific Northwest.  I've turned into a fair weather angler.  Why do it today when I can do it tomorrow?

Have you ever fished Quabbin Reservoir?  I have had people tell me the smallmouth fishing there is awesome but I couldn't take my boat there because the outboard is too big and I didn't want to have to pay $45 for a decontamination every time I wanted to go fishing.  I guess I could have splurged and rented one of their's.   :-)

Smallie_Stalker

I have but it's been a very long time. But I can say that even back then the smallie fishing was great with lots of fish in the 4+ lb range. I've heard a 6.9 lb smallie was caught there but I have no personal knowledge if that is true or not.

It's a big place so a GPS is very helpful. I'd say if you can find someone who knows it try and get them to go with you. Miles of water that looks the same no matter where you go. And if you do decide to rent a boat get there early. The gates open about 6 am and there is usually already a line by then.

Good luck bud.  :)
