Went out this AM for two hours afrer work with a coworker.  We caught 7, 5 being keeper size.  Biggest were 2-3lbs.

Overcast, foggy, water temp 70°. Slight breeze.

My biggest choking on a "KVD Perfect Swim Fluke"..  which by the way is not great.  I got them crazy cheap awhile back.

Honestly you don't need a 300 sized reel for inshore. Think about how much 30-40# braid you can hold on a 200 size reel. There is nothing that is gonna spool you im sure. I use a Cardiff 200A with 40# braid, and never come close to being spooled by anything. You can hold close to 200 yds of braid on a 200 size reel. I think the 300 may be overkill unless you are planning on spooling it with 20-25# mono or something thick like that. If this helps you at all.

The 22-24 pounds of drag too. I like the size too.... good to chuck bigger baits.....what's she say "bigger is better" and "size matters"....Plus I am shore bound.....I don't like those creek trout size reels most you "pro" bass fisher "men" like. I got a 20 size spinning reel for my kid but us 35 and 40 for bass. ~rant .......Maybe a smoke inshore or the lews inshore?......Tour MG....like I said I like kicking around the tires before I buy something and it is just something to talk about.

Nice fish west. The strike king stuff never really has impressed me. I do like the KVD Perfect "trick worms" though, might try a spinner bait but the rest of the stuff seems cheap, epsecially thier hard baits.

That BB inshore from Lews is quite the reel too. I almost bought one a while back.

Good to know. I have been wanting to try one since you and Lou speak highly of them.
That one Ron at Valley is offering is a looker too with the fancy carbon fiber handle.

The tournament pro is sweet reel. It has both breaking systems, so you can really fine tune your casts.

The inshore models does as well. That is pretty cool, I have only had reels that are one or the other.

Gambler, I've always liked the higher end quantum spinning reels. Baitcasters not so much though. Now the new Smoke baitcaster has been getting good reviews both on line and from the locals.

My son wants to try one, if he gets it I'll give it a try.

The Smoke baitcaster is pretty similar to the older model Energy PT I have. I am liking it very much myself. A little noisy on cast but smooth retireve and no backplay. Ton of muscle/drag to pull them in and I don't find it hard to tune nor does it need to be adjusted once a lure is dialed in. I have a hunch that next yr we will see the smoke revised, since like I said it leans towards the older models design/style wise. (Which LMG is right when he says the new energy models arent the same, the Smoke fills the old energy slot while they downgraded the new one to fit the $150 slot) It is all timing and stuff with these model releases and stuff. When that happens you better believe me I will jump on one or two if they drop to $100 bucks.

Unfortunately, i think i missed a nice window to fish in today. There is a strong storm system moving in from the SW thats going to be affecting us down here in S FL, in the next few hours. Fishing usually turns on before a big storm passes.
