Good evening,
I will be in Destin this weekend and was going to bring the boat. I would like to do some bass fishing but was curious as to where the best places to go in the area. I found a place called Lake Juniper up in Defuniak Springs... but really can't find many fishing reports.
Would love some advice so that I can at least be near the fish... can't say I will get them in the boat.
Thanks,
Mike
Mike,
Due to Eglin AFB's reservation covering almost 300k acres down there not took my places to fish unless you have base access. A few scattered lakes north of I-10 yes but that is one long drive just for that. If you have your saltwater license why not just fish the Choctawhatchee Bay? It is chock full of big(2-14lbs, my biggest was 36") redfish and speckled trout!! I used almost nothing but silver and gold rattletraps, and a few white flukes on a double rig and you can catch all the fish you want!! Lots of shallow grass there or look for the baitfish! Hope you have fun regardless!!
Hey Mike- check down to Sep 10th on this page and click the Pensacola area fishing post. They have a reply w/a link to numerous spots around the area that aren't on base!! Should be quite helpful!

Choctawatchee river is the closest to you. Deer point isn't far either. Deer point has been pretty good early early in the day and has been producing really good size fish for me! Good luck and hope u enjoy our fishing down here!
deer point for sure. if you are into kayaking then western lake is a good one. I have a few big bass out there. But you have to have your saltwater and freshwater license to fish there.
