Hello my name is Shaun. I'm looking to get into bass fishing here in Colorado. I live in Lakewood, I don't have a boat andprefer fishing from the shore. I know it is late in the season but I would like to get some pointers and advice. primarily in locations. I'm more for catch and release. I have plastic worms, pumpkin green tube jigs and some rapala cranks. thanksahead of time.

Sounds like you're off to a great start. Lots of smallmouth bass in your neck of the woods and those are great baits for them. Fall is here and bass will be on the move. As a shore angler this is a bad time to camp out on a spot so put on some good hiking boots and cover shoreline casting along the way. Bass will pull to the banks to feed and the more bank you cover the more chances you have :-*
I went to cheesman lake and I didn't catch a thing there. Any ideas of a good place to fish or a good place for starters
You're not far from Chatfied and that lake is chalk full of 9-13" smallies. Right now, fish around any of the rip-rap or along the dam. Suspending Jerbaits, SqBill and Lipless Cranks, Tubes and Grubs. Green Pumpkins, Browns and Blacks for the plastics. Craw for cranks and white, chrome or gold Jerks. Use light line(8-10lb Fluorocarbon). Water Temp is around 48dF.
Good Luck!
