Title: Reel parts
Post by: ChubSH on February 20, 2013, 09:55:34 PM
Where is the best place to get Shimano parts? I must be missing something, I looked at a site just now and I don't know that I want to pay over 50 bucks for a pinion gear. Any way around it? Any better deals?

If you Google Shimano reel parts, you will come up with some tackle places that seel certain parts. More than likely depending on which model reel you have, your best bet is straight through Shimano themselves. You could ask ProReel if he has any in stock too.

That is robbery right there.....

The best place to go first is to the shimano website and look for their satellite repair centers. You might have one really close to you. If not most will sell you parts, at a fair price.

You can also call Shimano and if you know the part number they'll hook you up

Always start with shimano customer service, unless you have a satelite service center close.

Customer Service: 877-577-0600
5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
Pacific Standard Time
If they don't have it, then the customer service page at shimano .com has a list of service centers. Another good place to check is a website called Dads ol tackle. He keeps a lot of older shimano parts and has good prices. Glens reel repair and parts in Idaho also has some older stuff and reasonable prices. Nutter rod and reel is a good one. Soutwest parts and service in Dallas is most likley to have what you need if no one else does, but they tend to be a little high on shipping charges.

I ordered some parts for my Abu 5600 BCX a few months back from "Mike's Reel Repair" online. The part description said it would fit.. it was just a worm shaft. It didn't, I even said in the order that it was for a 5600 BCX. It took over a month to get and $50 later.. yea. I hope Shimano can help!
