Title: Abu Garcia revo sx or Stx
Post by: Ben P. on March 15, 2013, 04:34:36 PM
Would like some opinions on which reel to get.  I have a last years model of an Stx but I was just curious how much of a difference there is in the reels.  I know the stx has the extra ball bearing and is made of a different material.  I don't mind spending the extra money on the Stx but was just curious if I'm wasting my money or not and if there will be a difference that I can feel between the 2.  Thanks in advance

I own couple S, SX and STX all 3rd Gen. The STX has dual brakes, EVA handles and may edge out the SX on weight slightly. Both are great reels. I'm all Revo and personally I don't think you can go wrong with either. Having the upgraded brake system is a nice option as there is more options and flexibility in setting up for whatever lures you are using.

The only noticable difference between those 2 is that the STX has dual brakes. The SX, even with the extra magnets that the 2nd gen has, is hard to control and easy to backlash. I would pick the STX between those 2.
