Title: Z9 RPM's
Post by: MObasser on April 06, 2013, 08:06:40 AM
Just curious what RPM's you guys run at wide open?  I have a 2012 Z9 and have been running it around 5400 wide open.  Should I stay in that range or can I go higher?  Thanks

I don't think you've given anyne enough info to give you a meaningful answer that you can use. They'd need to know what motor and prop you have a least.

A Z9 can come with a motor as large as a 250. So we'll need to know that at least. I believe you can only get them with a Merc, so with that general info you should be running closer to 6000 RPM if you're looking for max speed.

I think mike is right, Z9's only come with Merc......  So. I would say it is time to come up with your jack plate.

Which motor, 225 or 250?  Your dealer can tell you what the max is, and another thing to have them check is the tach set correctly?  Mine on my new boat was not, fixed it and away we go!!!!!

Sorry havn't been on here for a  little while.  It has a Mercury Pro XS 250 on it with the Tempest 25 prop on it.  I can take it the RPM's higher, I just didn't want to go too high on it.

Go get a 26 Furry, come up on the motor to around 3.5 to 3.25 prop to pad and you should see a good jump in hole shot & top end oncew you get the boat set up with your RPM's around 6 grand.  I turned a 26 tempest with my 2003 Nitro 929 with a 225 opti pop the new 250 pxs on the Z9 will have no issues with the 26 furry.

Apprectiate the info on the Fury prop.  I was wanting to get a spare prop, so I might just put the Fury on the boat and keep the one I have now as the spare.
