Title: Vinyl Skirt Fix
Post by: Rivermandave on December 25, 2013, 02:13:24 PM
Many older spinnerbaits had vinyl skirts on them...Blakemore, Bumble Bee and Rebel come to mind.

Currently, the Hildebrandt Snagless Sally has a vinyl skirt.

If you have ever seen baits like these that have been neglected over time, you have noticed how the skirts can get a nasty "curl" set in them. Here's how to fix that

Hot water.

Some will straighten out by just running them under hot tap water (130* - 140*). Many may need the water to be hotter.

These I straightened out by heating a pan of water on the stove (150* - 180*), then dipped them several times using a needle nose pliers.

This also works to a degree with rubber skirts.

Using a gentle soap and water solution will work also and cleans "grunk" off dirty skirts. Talcum powder sprinkled will help rubber skirts to not tangle.
