A lot has been going on since we first talked about Guntersville but it's on so let's get on board.
Will be a 1 day tournament
5 fish limit
Safe light to 3pm
Official time will be my Verizon iPhone.
All Local and State Laws Must be Adhered to

And as always Safety is our biggest concern
Cookout after weigh in on Saturday at Cabin ( Charcoal Grill on Site)
We have 1 Cabin reserved for Friday and Saturday Night at Waterfront Bay

Cabin Sleeps 8 there are two covered areas next to cabins for boat and truck parking and charging hookups

Rates are $140 a night up to 2 people with a $10 addit fee per person over 2 up to 8 ( so 8 people would be $200 divided by 8 people = $25 a night !!!! if my redneck math is right LOL) with a 2 night minimum (Can get 1 night only for an addit $40 cleaning fee)
Launch and weigh in will be at public ramp across the street from Cabins
Can plan a meal Friday night also if anyone wants to join. Will add more details as they come to me lol

We are trying to acquire a cabin to hold 6-8 will know more about that tomorrow morning for sure. Real cheap lodging when divided by 6 :) so cross fingers.

I can make some big green egg smoked chicken leg quarters and bring em down if no one is opposed to that? What I usually do is inject them with a garlic vinnagrette mix I make.

Well I'm already have an away weekend to Smith Mountain Lake later in October. Sure can't pull 2 away weekends in the same month, unless I want the locks to the front door changed. If it's a success and you run it again next year I might have to do it.

So I talked to Rick.
Here is what I've come up with.
I can get 5 slabs of BBQ smoked ribs at 15.00 a throw. If we need more I have to know by tomorrow 12:00 these are full slabs. 2 should be able to eat one meal on. These are not store bought.
Let me know who is in on the ribs.
I have a very large canopy I'll bring. It's 18-20 long and 10-12 wide.
I have two sets of corn hole bags.
And a 115 can cooler.

I will take a slab for my dad and I so add/deduct from the total..etc.

I was going to bring that up...more toilet paper haha. Nothing worse than having bubbleguts on a boat. Always an extra roll of TP in the boat.

That is over a 9 hour trip for me each way. Just a tad to far for me at this time. Besides the wife has my schedule planned for Friday Evening and Saturday Evening. These are the times when I wished I still had my airplane.

I dont have a big cooler. One about half the size I think it is about 20 quarts. It would be wise I would imagine to bring a regular size cooler so that ice cold beer does not get lukewarm.

The entire UB crew that attended has now made it home safely. Had a great time made some new friends, caught up with an old friend. Great times for sure . I have to Thank Bo James and NuTech Lures for the wonderful package. The Big Bass was caught on a NuTech Lure.
I have some Doc Irv lures for everyone who attended on the way also but unfortunately the Post Office didn't deliver in time so as soon as I get them you guys will be getting a package so make sure I have your mailing address
I'm sure the other guys will chime in soon. I want to thank everyone who attended and Thank Lee Smith for handing out some great El Grande Gear and Lures to everyone , buying Groceries & cooking Breakfast.
Thank my Buddy Jim for putting up with me on his boat and providing groceries lol. Wanna thank Joe for his awesome conversation and first class cooking , best steak And Pork I have ever had. I want to thank Pat for joining us and for his amazing stories. Was a really good time !

First even if we wouldn't have caught fish it would have been a great trip , of course we all wanted to catch 10lbers but the friendships and camaraderie that we found will last a lifetime. The 10lbers will be there next time and hopefully the weather cooperates.
Second thing that stands out to me is ever since I started bass fishing I have dreamt of fishing grass and let me tell you I never imagined it would be like that ! There was almost too much grass if that's possible to my eye. It was like a million Christmas trees packed from bottom to top , looked like you could walk on it for as far as they eye could see in places. Every rod I brought had 10# mono lol. Don't go to G'ville in the fall with 10# mono lol.
I also wonder if spring would not be better before the grass gets crazy ?
Waterfront Bay is a great place to stay and launch for sure. They everything you could really need already there.

For sure the grass beds are unlike anything we have around here although Rural Retreat had an area much like Guntersville and it produced. This big difference is that one grass bed in G was as big as RR lake. ~roflmao I would like to get down there on Guntersville in the early Spring. Maybe get in a couple of weekdays and a Saturday. I know Guntersville was just in a funk because the weather. If we'd been there a week earlier, I think we'd have had more to show for it. -Jim

Bigwrench, well I was not there so I'll just give my opinion on grass. I will tell you from what I have ran into with some of the bodies of water I fish, is no way, you can't have too much grass. Most new guys experiencing heavy grass come away from a body of water like that, how can you fish with all that grass. Well, 10# mono is not the way to go, that's one tip. lo Heavy gear with heavy line is the way to go. 20-25# mono's and fluoro, and 65 lb braids, with stout rods. But with time and experience fishing those heavy grass situations, you will learn to love it and most likely come to prefer it. ~c~

I did some punchin' with a Havoc Pittboss. I think Rick tried it too... I have no doubt they were down there, just needed to hit'em with the punch rig to get their attention. -Jim

Punching is fun when you get used to it, most folks, go to slow. Punch, move, punch, move. It's a reaction technique. I didn't do any punching this last trip, just due to the conditions, but love it in the summer up there!!

Idle along these huge grass beds and look for openings under the surface and of course fish. Every fish I caught was in , around or on the grass except for one small spot and one Shad. I switched over to 65# braid Friday on two reels , one was on my DX744 and the other on my LSCR (I call it my Frog Rod) lol
I was convinced the key to catching them was the grass and a frog now not so sure lol

Conditions where terrible for both actually Rick! But once you found a couple, the area should have held more. I think Sunday would have ended up a good day if the wind didn't beat up on us, but it was time to go lo
The Big G will make you a hero or :surrender: Through the years I have realized this lake is a timing lake more than most. You can blast them for a little while then they go deep down in the weeds and you have to hit them on the head to get a bite. That's what we where dealing with. Very few active feeders, I would think every fish that was caught, all 5 of them between us lo ~rant where reaction strikes. Now, with that said, I bet THIS weekend, that place will be ON FIRE!! ~xyz
