Fished Cross Sat, threw a Gary Yamoto grub next to a tree, felt the tic tic and set the hook on a swimming tree. Took off right with reel screaming and line like a violin string. Pole bent double, Finally got her stopped and then she tried to go back to the tree, slipping drag the whole time. She was head down trying to bury her self in weeds. Finally thummed reel to keep her out of the tree and got her comming towards the boat and ove course she went under the boat. More time with rod bent double and line singing she came out from under the boat and Partner DJ scoped her up in the net. I was so excited the hole time as we were looking for a kicer since 7:30 and it was now 10:45. :'( >:D :'(
Looked down in the net at this 10 lb fish and she was a fresh water drum. ~xyz ~rant ^-^
:help:
Doin't know then I have ever been so disapointed before, she fought like a bass, but I guess her size and getting side ways fooled me. Never the less she was 10 lb and the biggest drum I ever caught.

I feel your pain brother, has happened to me many times with drum and grennel ~xyz
I used to be in a club that had a "trash fish" pot, I won that sucker more than anybody lo
Well that sux. I hooked in to a BIG Carp on Belton once. Had it hooked in the tail with a crank bait. Thought I had a new Texas State Record the way it was fighting ~shade
Same thing happen to me about a month ago when I was fishing shaols for SM. Looked like a 7 lb smallie ended up being a drum lol
Had a 12 lbs. Catfish blow the paint off a new topwater bait once. Just knew I had the bass of a lifetime. At least I did get to eat filets though.. :)
Fishing Guntersville a few years back and caught a fresh water drum that went 15 lbs. Destroyed my 1oz spinner bait.
Those drum really fight closer to a big bass than anything I've ever caught, except for a big bass obviously.
Caught a beaver in the foot once on the river. Thought it was an alligator when I first saw the foot pop to the top. LOL!
had a 6lb drum smoke a crankbait up on Wheeler last year, thought I had a nice bass until he surfaced...
And that was on a medium-fast crankin stick... talk about a pole being dubbled over! If that hadn't been my only white shallow diver, I'd have just cut the line.
