Title: Anyone interested in a rally at Barkley lake?
Post by: Brocksdad1 on September 29, 2014, 10:26:04 PM
I've been talkin to Caddyjoe and a few others about a rally at Barkley lake sometime in April or May we are needing suggestions on dates I'm wanting to get the ball rolling a bit on this to get an idea of who might be interested. I'm thinking meeting on a Fri evening and eating and getting to meet up. Then a friendly tournament on Saturday with a nice dinner and weigh in. If I can swing it I'm wanting to get some goodies from some vendors for first and second place.
I would like to get the banner or make one to support UB.
I have found a nice little place to stay call Poplar Creek Lodge near Kutawa they have agreed to give a discounted rate with nice newly remodeled rooms for less than 50.00 a night. As of right now I can get all the rooms reserved but they need names and cards for each room.
So if your interested post up here and please send me your contact information in a PM.
Bryce
Tentative date: ????????
If you would like to get in touch with me call, text, email. Bryce Norvell 812-430-9008
So far this is the list.
Me and guest Caddyjoe and guest Nutt and guest Lee and guest Stumpy and guest 31Airborne and guest. Rangerman and guest

I would love to get up there, one of my best friends lives on the lake. I'm not sure about my schedule yet, for some reason, they don't put them out until Jan. down here ~b~
Once you get a date, I'll be watching this thread!!!

Ok this is a good start. I had a Barkley thread last year but it was a little short of notice. I'm going to look at it tonight and contact those who are on it.
I'm thinking the date should be around the 11 or 18 of April. That will let the water temperature get up to around spawn.

I would like to make it. My weekends off in April are the 11th and the 25th, so I could possibly make the 11th. I wanted BAD to do the Guntersville trip, but of course, the Oilfield screwed me again and I work this weekend.

I wouldn't be able to go until October, but that's when we had a UB Rally there before and the fishing was pretty good. We stayed at Lake Fork Marina. They have a hotel, and a couple of duplexes you can rent. They also have a restaurant that is pretty good. Its mid lake, so you don't have to go far to find fish.

Naw, that aint early for crawfish at all!! I don't mind cooking some at all. I will bring the pot and we will get after it. If you are wanting a trip to the Bend, check out the UBCS board. We can try the Bend or Fork. I suck equally bad at both lakes. LOL

I dont think anyone is looking for a big prize. I think it is more about good times and putting faces to names. just good comraderie all the way around. I think that if people are going to have a pot pf any kind that might happen the day of and would not necessarily require the person organizing it to put any money on it.
Myself, I would throw 10 bucks into a big bass pot and total weight pot but I would expect that to be decided a little closer to the event or maybe even the day of, if at all.

In hope the same thing doesn't happen this year that happened last year. I had a bunch of guys say they wanted to go but I wound up there alone.

Hence why I am not committing as of yet. Class starts next week and end time would be right around then. Have to double check. If it is finals week I am out. If it is not then I am probably in.

Im gonna have to pass now, too. The UBCS is thrown this year by the club I fish in, so I need to be here on Toledo Bend. If you don't get a lot of participation, maybe come down and fish Toledo with us. You will never forget the trip.

Don't get discouraged, man.
The first rally we had in Florida took a few years to get together, it fell through a couple times in one year as a matter of fact.
But when it all came together it was a blast and there were a whole bunch of people showed up.

TNDiver, Caddyjoe have suggested holding the rally in May. I'm up for anything. It is going to be difficult to get a place for everyone if people want to go if it's not reserved soon. The lodge I have contacted is a nice place.
If there is a date that can be agreed upon by everyone, we can set it and all call and reserve the rooms.
I would love to meet some great folks from this site. And tell some fish stories.
I'm going to update the beginning of the thread.

Tell em there will be a free Ranger Boat next year if we have a crowd. Then next year and so on, that gets there attention lo

Well I'm looking to get or UB members together more than having an all out tournament.
These rallies that are put on by folks on UB is about membership fellowship and putting a face with a name. UB is a family, so getting together is important and fun. To my knowledge there isn't a rally in this area for folks in or around this area, or for folks wanting to fish Barkley. This is why I took it upon myself to get it started. Just like Bigwrench started the one on Guntersville last year and intends on continuing it.
Now locals are welcome, in fact one of the local guides on Barkley, and Barkley lake reporter here on UB is going to come Friday night and chat with everyone on conditions, lure choices, and so on.
Now I do appreciate your input, I just want to keep it simple yet fun.... There are a lot of great folks I'd love to meet on UB and I'm sure they would like to meet others.

If you would like to attend please add your name and get with me.
Also add a date you are free in May so we can eventually settle on a single weekend for everyone.

May is one damn fine month to be fishin.
I will be at table rock the week of 10 May so either before that or the weekend after. Combining it would be awesome and a much needed break from work for me.
So, perhaps the first weekend in May? Spawn will probably be wrapping up (guessing) at that time so there might be a few fat stragglers left around those stumps......
