Yes you are reading this correctly. FLBR new year is in April. :-\
I wanted to welcome all of you into a New Year. Clean slate. Past is the past, looking forward to the present and future. Last year was our inaugural year here on Ultimate Bass. We are looking forward in continuing to grow in Fl participation. The rules are simple. Go fish and you have an entire month to post your longest five. Winner, simply gets Bragging Rights. This competition runs month to month.
Now..... for the few that want to take this to the next level. Today opens up our yearly challenge as well. The Florida Bragging Rights Angler of the Year race officially has begun boys. ~c~ Trust me, its going to be competitive. Your month to month participation allows you to accumulate points toward the AOY. Depending on where you place at the end of the month will determine how many points will be awarded to you. For example if you make 1st place you are awarded 10pts. 2nd place gets 9 pts, 3rd receives 8pts, so forth and so on.
This year we also have two bonus point categories. One category is the Big Fish bonus. If you were fortunate enough to catch the longest fish of the month you will be awarded 2pts. Our next bonus is the 100" challenge. Any angler who achieves this feat will not only receive a 2 pt bonus, but will also be included in our very own BR Century Club.

Only the fish you measure count as "Inches" for the monthly total. What you score in Inches compared to where everyone else scores in Inches determines where in the Monthly Contest you place.
Where you place in the Monthly Contest is how you get your points for the AOY Race. Place 1st get 10 points, 2nd 9, 3rd 8 Etc through 10 places. That number or points you earned for placing gets the Bonus Points added to it for the AOY Race.
Get 1st place and have the longest fish? You get 10 points for 1st PLUS 2 points for the big fish for 12 points towards the AOY Race.
The most anyone can make any month would be 14 points if they place 1st, with the longest (big fish) fish, and have over 100 inches in total.
Hope that is simple enough that everyone can understand.

Spent the day down with Jim on Lake Istokpoga. Started out loosing a super nice one first thing in the AM. Then the bite shut off.. manged one fish on a square bill swim bait. Rough warm day covering tons of water with little results.

Went out today and got SKUNKED in a bad way! Hooked my thumb loading rods into the kayak and that should have been my sign lol. Didn't even see any fish. Gonna head out Saturday (maybe)

I was out today on the St. John's, I put in at Ed Stone Park off SR44. I put in at about 8:30, the water temp at the ramp was 76 degree's, I ran south down to Blue Springs, making a stop in Lake Beresford. I fished every inch of cover and pads from Blue Springs all the way back to the ramp and caught nothing. I fished jerkbaits, plastic gator tail worms in a red shad with a 1/4 weight, crankbaits that ran from 4 ft to 12 ft in depth. I pulled about 1:30 because it looked like a storm was headed up our way. The water temp ranged between 76-78 degrees, the water was tannic but you had about 2 ft of visbility. I wish I ould have posted that I loaded the boat but it just ain't so. I am now at a loss to figure out what these fish are doing, or what stage they are in- prespawn, spawn, post spawn. I will be back out again on Friday, maybe I will get lucky and hit the motherlode. I thought fishing the Potomac river was tough, the St. John's makes it look like a walk in the park!

Fished Lake Marion today, tried several things but shallow inside lines of grass were the ticket. All on speed worms. Also caught a 6-8 lb mud fish (bowfin) that thing was huuuggeee!

Been laid up with my legs but made it out for a couple hours tonight. Solid starter lol. 19.25. Now if I can catch 4 more like that! Was able to get out for a few hrs this morning and man it was BUSY with boat traffic. Had a great time, 12 bass (One being 14.5) and one beastly Bow! Honestly I love to catch muds, gars and of course bass. No prejudice if it's big. Heres my catch for record. Thanks! I know it's crazy but sometimes I go to areas that are "dead" just to throw topwater frogs and catch muds. Have been consumed with big fish from a young age, had my first 8lb+ bass at 10 and monster muds before that. They really are an amazing creature.

Well finally joe and i have some fish to post, last week we were skunked, but today we did a little better,
We fished from 7:00 to 1:00, mostly cloudy, water stained we got 7 in the boat and lost about 4 others, the 1st 2 we got on a gold flake paddle tail, the others were on a junebug fluke.
1st fish for joe, 20 1/4 inch, image is blurry so if it don't count that's ok
he got 4 total
20 1/4 + 13 1/2 + 11 1/2 + 12 = 57 1/4
I got 3 today
15 + 13 1/2 + 18 = 46 1/2

Hey lou, we tried alot of stuff, frogs, spook etc, but topwater didn't work for me today. the first 2 were caught on a gold flake paddle tail next to the weed edge, the others were on a junebug fluke but in a little deeper water, I also saw some feeding frenzy activity/schooling, but was not able to respond fast enough, this was a new lake for us, so it took awhile to find the fish, we may hit it again tomorrow.

I was able to get out for a few hours by myself today, fished from 7:00 to 11:30 and caught 7 total, tried mr frog at the 1st light and had 3 small hits on it but no hook ups, went to a zoom fluke black with gold flakes, that got all my fish today, most were about 8 to 10 feet deep, nothing real big, but alot of fun. ~gf
I had 46 1/2" with 3 fish
adding 2 fish and culling the 13 1/2"
fish added today 15 1/2, 16 1/2. 14 1/2
total now is 15 + 18 + 15 1/2 + 16 1/2 + 14 1/2 = 79 1/2 ~c~

Why did you cull the 14.25 and keep the 14? You cost yourself .25 by doing that.
Thanks deadeye. Cause it was late i was brain dead from my long exhausting day at work which seemed to have sucked up all my brain power and killed off way to many brain cells.
Can i take it back? Or is it to late?
