Well, I discovered an issue with my new ETEC that I didn't find while researching them. It's not a big deal, yet. It seems to only happen most often when folks run a Renegade 4 blade with the small hub. The weed ring restricts water and exhaust flow causing the weed ring to melt. I'll add a pic shortly.
Addington's had an extra weed ring but I've been advised to take it out. They told me leaving it out will vent better and allow my to have enough slip to get up to 2000 RPM quicker and that is where it develops the real ponies. I'm going to try to get out this weekend with both Renegade props and the new weed ring to try some things I guess.
Junior Addington recommended I try a Raker 22. He said the direct injection engines seem to prefer it and that I'd be thrilled.
Another option I read about on the ETEC owners site that seems to help correct the is to drill out the LU water intake to 5/16". That scares me just a little.
Has anyone else run across this? If so, how did you resolve it? -Jim

Jim, did you call 'Rude? I would call them first since you just bought her.

Haven't called them. Addington's is the Rude dealer I got it from though. I've also been on the ETEC owner's site and there have been lots of discussions there about it. Lot's of discussions going back to '09 and all that I've read involve the Renegade.
My biggest concern with going to the Raker is whether I'll be happy with how quick it gets me on pad and how it does rounding the bends. I really don't want to do any mods to the motor.
Ran a Taker on my old Stratos with a 150XP, great prop IMO. They like some extra cup in the tips. ;)

I've started shopping for a Raker 22. I'd like to find out for sure. I've been in love with my gade for a long time though.
