The DEC is going after hydrilla, it's an invasive here, it can make fishing tough, where there was grass there may be none now. Native species have been hurt and they are trying to revive them plus shore owners are complaining about how much growth there is and it's clogging of their props and making it difficult to swim and do other water sports. I really hope the DEC succeeds in what they are doing. We have college students who's summer jobs is explaining the problems with invasives and help clearing the trailers and boats as part of the [program.

I wish there was a compromise with hydrilla but it won't give. All or nothing. I understand the pleasure boaters and swimmers side, but there is no better thing that can be done to improve an eco system than hydrilla. It protects the young and old alike, it provides food for all species, but it will choke out a lake and make all those amazing fish I reachable to most.
If we could get the natives, specially coontail back the fishing would be great and boaters along with swimmers would be happy also. The best vegetation is native species.
