Title: Honeoye Lake
Post by: Oldfart9999 on August 01, 2016, 05:31:47 PM
Was on Honeoye Lake today, one of the Finger Lakes, 4.5 miles long, 30-35 feet deep max, mean is 16 feet. It has lmb, smb, walleye, pickerel, sunfish and some nimrod introduced pike. It's full of grass. With the drought we're having it has an algae problem but is still fish-able. I was out today, with the cloud cover I though a topwater bite might be on, wrong. I wound up having to go to a worm, Zoom Trick worm in camo with 1/16 ounce weight on 14b lb Fireline. I had to pitch into holes in thick grass in 8-10 feet and marinade the bait, not my favorite way to fish, I only felt one bite, when lifting if it felt hinkey I set the hook. % fish in the boat, 4 ripped off in the grass. A friend was down with 2 of his grand kids, he had to down size also. Tough day but one that has you going back.
