Great Hosmer Pond Access Closed Aug. 17 and 24
The Fish & Wildlife Department would like to notify anyone who might be planning on launching a motorboat at the public access on Great Hosmer Pond in Craftsbury that there will be temporary closures over the next two weeks.
On Wednesday, August 17 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. the access will be closed so a diver can pull the exotic Eurasian water-milfoil from the lakebed in and around the access area. This is part of an attempt to reduce the spread of the invasive plant that has become prevalent in the area around the public boat launch.
Fish & Wildlife acquired this access last year from Steve and Jane Glass as part of a donation to ensure public access continued in on the pond. The property was named the "Gordon PeeWee Wing Access Area" in honor of Mr. Glass's uncle, who was a life-long angler and hunter who demonstrated an enduring commitment to enabling anglers, hunters and boaters to access and enjoy waters belonging to the people of Vermont.
