Got out on Irondiqouit Bay this morning, The bay is my home water, where I learned to bass fish. It's about 4 miles long and .5 miles wide, 70 or so feet deep at it's deepest with bunch of flats and drops. 30 years ago there was a permanent bridge across the north end limiting the size of boats, it had great weeds and ton of bass, baitfish, pike, and during the runs trout and salmon. It was easy to catch a big fish. Now the bridge has been replaced by a swing bridge which is opened in April and closed in November, it's done as a training exercise by the Army Corp and is a big PITA, it was done to give lake goers a safe harbor, the development has been huge and there are thousands boats, big and small moored there, now. Yes, thousands. The weeds are gone, the cormorants are plentiful and the bass are hard to find. The county started an oxygenation thing and drove the thermocline from 17 feet to 35 feet in summer, it was done to bring in more game fish, it hasn't but that doesn't stop the trying. The water is now a permanent green with 5 or so feet of visibility at it's clearest. There are still big fish to be found largest this year is a bit over 5 lbs with a bunch of 4s, today I had 3 over 3 lbs, 2 over 3.5. Got them all on a Bitsy Bug. I was off the water by 10:30 because of the boat wakes but after a shower was back at Fish & Game Club for hots on the deck, took my wife and it was a good time.

That sounds like a great day there Rodney! We shoot them cormorants on sight over here. They will clean a lake out real quick.
