This is NOT an invitation to turn this thread into a political sounding board. If it starts to go that way it will have to be moved/removed.
Since the link was dead I obviously couldn't read what the OP saw. The only thing I COULD find on Trump ending catch and release had to do with ending the immigration policy of border patrol agents releasing people back into Mexico after catching them trying to enter the country illegally.
I couldn't find anything on Trump that related to fishing and catch and release. If anyone has fishing related info on this please do share it, but maybe in the Giant Salvinia board. :-*
