Title: Lake Allatoona/Hartwell late apr-early may
Post by: ssj3goten on May 08, 2017, 11:38:14 AM
Took a couple weeks off work and headed to N. GA for some family fun and a bit of fishing.

First stop Lake Allatoona last week of April
Water Clear and temps mid 70's
Primarily fished near the navy lake site staying within a few miles of there. Fishing was solid and fairly easy. Most bass (spotted) were caught off points, docks and off first drop-off in 7-10 FOW. Largemouth mainly docks in shallower water. Baits were simple flukes, stick baits and t-rigged worms. Topwater bite was there but they seemed to want to stun the bait vs. eat it. Found a few schools of hybrid and white bass as a bonus.
Size-most bass 10-14" biggest was 4lbs caught off the bank near swimming beach lol.

Hartwell
Water stained to muddy temps mid 70's lake 9 feet low.
Typical hartwell for me great super early bite with shad spawn on topwater or plastics then slowed down til evening. Docks and secondary points were money in the middle part of creeks. Not a lot in the back or mouths and/or in deeper channel swings. Fish were overall smaller than when I fished it last. Average bass right around 10-13" couple of 3lbers the first day. Good numbers overall.

Thanks for the report and sounds like you caught some fish on both lakes so it was a good trip. ;D
