Caught this morning in Loxahatchee wildlife preserve. Really not too sure what it is. Found out it has teeth haha. Put up a decent fight and swam right into the pads.
Thanks in advance

Thankfully he didn't fight much out of the water haha. I was more worried about the gator that was keeping a close eye on his release
That's an Oscar
He doesn't look so good
They usually look like the fish below. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170821/133285becf898cde6bacea0823c075d3.jpg)
Thats one of them dying fish. lo
Like Lou said, its an Oscar. Part of the Cichlid family.
I bet them would fry up good served with hush puppies and a glass of sweet ice tea. (https://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimageshack.com%2Fa%2Fimg923%2F4313%2FdplfzR.gif&hash=036bd19b032cd75b22bbf41d0bad666d51a0de6a) (https://imageshack.com/i/pndplfzRg)

Sweet thanks! I couldn't find anything identical in my google searches. They all were weird colors

Yes, apparently they are firm white meat and do fry up well. Good to know for tomorrow morning haha

Your welcome, this past Spring and early summer, Oscars were on a tear in the Everglades. Loads and loads of oscars, and then they disappeared. Weirdest thing.

Huh that is weird. I usually just go to the very first spot at the Loxahatchee preserve. Apparently you can catch a lot of different species right there. I do want my 5lb plus bass but these other fish have been keeping me occupied
Lou, that Oscar could be a prize winner in a show, it's a really good looking Oscar!!

Thank you Oldfart. We are fortunate to have several nice looking exotics here in South Fl.
