Title: Question for all the older 300 series Comanches
Post by: Kris on August 29, 2017, 02:43:56 PM
As many know I am redoing my, new to me, 1987 360V. At present I am working on the rear compartment getting it straightened out. The wiring looks like a bc birdnest, oil everywhere and there were three transducers glued to the floor. I removed all the hoses to replace them because it looked like garden hose was used. The bilge pump was loose and flopping around.  The livewell valves and pumps were not secured and left to flop around.  I have removed everything, including the transducers and now have to put it back together. Here are my questions:
1. Instead of leaving the pumps to flop around on the floor, can I use the ones that go through the hull?  Will they fit? Does anyone have pictures of their setup or advise that I can use to set mine up?
2. There is a bracket that looks like it holds two switches, mine is empty.  I did find a broken push button switch on the floor in there that I think went to there.  Can you tell me what those switches were for?
3. Anyone have a wiring diagram for the 300 series Rangers? If it makes a difference mine has a Johnson GT 150 hanging on the back.  Is there one still available from Ranger for this antique?
One other unrelated question:
This Johnson is mounted on a six inch jackplate and has a 4 blade prop.  I have not had this in the water yet but I am curious what pitch a three blade prop for this thing would be.
Thanks for any information on my present project.  Kris

My father had a 363 for several years I'll try and get him to help.

It's got a couple pictures of the back compartment bilge area.

Thanks Mike. Yep, looks like mine except mine has more oil all over it. There seems to be more space down in the pump and valve area.  Might be the angle and it looks like the livewell overflow hose is not installed.  That will help some but I will have to earmark it somehow.

Kris I have about 160 photos of my 1990 330V restoration in my FB albums. Probably a few hundred more somewhere on a jump Drive also lol. Not sure of the similarities but mine had the wiring diagrams on the inside of the battery compartment hatches.  I took photos of the diagrams that may or may not help with your situation. It had a 120 Rude on it.

Kris, I run a 1991 365V and would be happy to take any pictures you might need.  Things should be similar.

Mine is a 1986 360V (17' 10") and I doubt there is too much difference in the models except length and number of consoles. I am really curious as to what the two momentary switches are for under that battery compartment hatch. If you have a pic of the wiring diagram from the hatch please forward it to me when you get the time. I can send you my email in a PM if you want. I am not going to be in a big hurry and still have to get the hose I need to replace the ones I cut off. Mine has a Johnson GT150 VRO on it. Thanks Rick.

Thanks Bud. I think I have a pic of the locations for bilge pump, aerator pumps and livewell fill/empty valves. My biggest thing is going to be finding the right diagram for the wiring and what the two switches under the battery compartment hatches are for.  If I need anything I will sent you a PM. Thanks again.
