What a nice place to have the 1st Annual Tournment, that is one nice State Park, and the rivers are great! Rode a lot today, just looking and enjoying all the sights! Did stop to fish a litttle, caought a few small fish and lost 3-4 small fish on spinnerbait! :'( On the way back to the landing, wife wanted to stop and try some ultra-light's for bream and Crappie, so we fished a few brushpiles and blowdowns, and caught a couple dozen of bream, make a good mess for lunch tomorrow! All in All, a great day on a very nice River System.
Ricky
It is a beautiful river and I hope everyone enjoys fishing it for the tournament. Sounds like yall had a great trip. I wish I knew you were going to do some bream fishing, I could have put you one some good ones.
Rattle,
We should be going back this coming weekend too! So, any help you can give will be great! You can email if you like!
I'm still confussed on were we were fishing some of the time and were Parkside comes into the river. We launched in the park and turned left thought the no wade zone and then ran under the draw bridge and to the main river.
Thanks,
Ricky
Ricky, when you ran toward toward the river, before you get to the draw bridge the is a branch that goes to the right, that is Houston River. If you don't take the right and remain straight for a little ways there is a cut to the left, that is Indian Bayou which is where Parkside Marine is located. If you don't turn in Indian Bayou and stay straight you will see the draw bridge and of course keep on going for a few miles and you will come out to the Calcasieu River. If you take right when you come out on the river you won't go far befor you come to the Saltwater Barrier. If you go left when you come out on the river you can go until you are run out of gas, the river runs way up North. When you first take the left on the river you will run a little ways up and you will notice a hard bend to the left or you can stay straight. The bend to the left is the river, if you stay straight you will be in English Bayou. Either way you go you are going to go under Hwy 171. If you stay on the river and go under hwy 171 you will start seeing all the bays. There are all kind of cuts and bays from there on North. Hopes this kind of helps you out. I was planning on going tomorrow afternoon but I just noticed my right tire on my trailer is about to blow, so I will be tire shopping tomorrow instead.
If you get the tire fixed, email me or give me a buzz on my cell 337-278-9063, maybe we can follow you tomorrow afternoon, if not, we will try next Sat. for sure.
Thanks
Ricky
Ricky, I'll call you tomorrow wether I'm going or not.
Sounds good Rattle, I'm going to run to Henderson Swamp in the morning and try some points, a friend has been doing well there and ask me to run over with him in the morning and try them again!
Ricky
Good deal, hope yall have a good trip. Our next club tournament is next weekend on the Calcasieu River, so if you are there you will probably meet a buch of guys from our club. They will be launching and weighing-in out of White Oak Park. I won't be there for that one, I have to work. :(
Maybe you can get that tire fixed and go hook some! Good luck to you also buddy.
