Title: Early year reports?
Post by: TheLastRodBender on February 06, 2018, 06:55:49 AM
Anyone been out yet?  Any reports on water temp and conditions?  If nothing worked, what and where was ineffective?  I haven't had a chance to touch any water yet, but it's going to happen soon!!  Up here in NoVa we've been dealing with some pretty bad conditions but have hear grumbles that Anna has been producing through the winter.

Central VA....
Yesterday water was 58* in 2 neighborhood ponds, caught 5 LMB. Saturday at Briery was tough but caught 2 missed 3. Other anglers I spoke with also had it tough but managed to land a few with 6lbs biggest.

Sandy River last week was a nightmare, postfrontal, 7 kayaks out and only 1 LMB.

I think prespawn is on, at Briery fish caught were near shallows.

That would make sense, we've been mild for a few days now, and I saw my 1st gaggle of geese flyin North this morning on my way to work.  We've been gettin soaked up here in Nova, but it's been a warmer rain and been intermittent.   I'm thinkin that's starting to warm the waters a bit.... Lipless cranks and suspending jerkbaits should be getting the big girls moving a bit.

Thanks for the reports!
