Has anyone ever installed a recessed trolling tray on a 99 PT 175 before? Ordering one for mine and wanted to see if anyone ran into any problems with supports being in the way.
There are a few threads on this here. Try this one and see if it helps you.

If your nervous about cutting before knowing whats under the deck, that deck comes off fairly easily. You just have to find the screws that hold it down which are hidden in the carpet.
This is a video one of our members made.

I saw several YouTube videos on it. Looks pretty easy

LOL......maybe. It depends on what's underneath the deck you're cutting thru. I had a support bar that I had to brace back up on both sides of the cut. Go to the Aluminum boat section and find my thread; it has some pics

Copy, hoping someone with my boat can give me insight.... otherwise ill just start cutting...lol
I'm going to bet that they're similar so just in case check out how I braced up the support I cut thru. Even if it's identical it may give you an idea but remember NO TREATED LUMBER!!

You can find some videos with that same exact issue as well. Just watched one yesterday. Looks like an inconvenience but overall still not that bad.

Inconvenience is the right word

I would think the metal trays provide more overall strength and support to the deck area.
