Title: SHOW US YOUR RIG!
Post by: jyu87 on February 28, 2018, 10:23:14 PM
I hate when I talk to someone and not know what they look like. In this case, I want to know you by your boat, in hopes, that when I see it on the water I can call you out by name! LOL

I'll start.

btw. some of you guys may have seen my older boat (1448 Tracker Grizzly). I miss her. Sold to a friend of mine.

You have no idea and it isn't over yet.  Boat is being ordered this week cuz we are just waiting on final pricing for the motor upgrade to see if we can swing it.  We are getting a new 2018 Tracker Pro 175TXW.

My rig is an antique, 1973 Ouachita, Model B, 16X48. It was given to me with trailer and 36v golf cart motor. I didn't like the raised front and rear decks that previous owners had installed so I redid it. It is now a boat you can stand in with less chance of falling overboard. There are pics on the redo in Aluminum boats here on UB. It is scheduled for some work and a repaint at the beginning of this Season and hopefully finish the inside sometime later this Season. Here it is

What in the. That's strange, did you buy it from Tracker or a Boat dealer? Saw your reply on the other thread, I've been doing a lot of little customization. I will definitely fill you in.

The pics I posted are from when I first redid the boat, about three years ago. It's still in good shape but I am making some small changes. I thought the red paint from my usual supplier of oil based enamel, TSC, should work well and it didn't. There is not a smooth surface on the outside of the hull anywhere I use a paint additive with oil based enamel that usually makes a really smooth paint job, not this time. This is the worst finish on one of my boats I have ever had.
Except for the floor the inside has not been redone yet. Hopefully it will be done later this Season. There is a lot of damage from battery acid on the port inside that is noticeable in the pics. Previous owner had six, six volt batteries and either from charging or battery exploding. Old saying in the automotive trade. "a coat of paint hides a thousand sins". This boat is a good example of that. Thanks for the compliment.

What would happen if you lightly wet sand and clear coat over it?

That would be a good idea in some cases. I am going to sand it out again and a Friend, professional painter, is going to repaint it satin fire engine red. He is also doing some other painting here in return for me getting his reservoir rig together. I figure the satin finish will reflect less sunlight into the eyes of the occupants.
