Title: Lake Blackshear
Post by: BassHOGS on April 02, 2018, 04:15:09 AM
Good morning UB!!!  Hope everyone had a great weekend.  My son and I made it out to Lake Blackshear this weekend and did some fishing!!!  Weather was about 50 degrees at 0700 when we got to the ramp.  Put the boat in and headed to the first stop where the bass were starting to feed on the shad in the creek.  I put my trolling motor in and BOOM......the pin that holds the cable to the foot pedal came out and all my tools were in the truck......so back to the truck we went.  Got the pin reinstalled and good to go and headed back to our first spot.

Water was 61 degrees in the creek.  Tried throwing a frog but no takers.  Switched to a T-rigged Zoom Speed Worm and threw it around cypress trees.  Got bit several times but no takers.  I did manage to catch a big snakehead though ~rant.......thought I had a TOAD :shocking: :(....nope just that stupid snakehead ~rant.

Went down the river and fished chatterbaits on seawalls and boated two fairly quick with a big fish of 3 pounds (hope it is still there this weekend).  Also caught some more fish on a red rattle bait on a rocky point (smoked the bait and it was in the back of the fishes mouth)  All said and done, not sure I feel very confident going into this weekends tournament  but Ill give it my best.  Had a great time on the water with my son for sure.  We even at a hole in the wall restaurant on the lake called BOOGER BOTTOM......guess its a local favorite cause it was packed!!!  Hope everyone has a great week.

FISH ON!!! ~flag

Thanks for the report BassHOGS.

I pass by Blackshear on my way to Lake Seminole every spring,  but have never fished it.  It is a lake that I would like to visit someday.

Good luck this weekend.
