Title: Loch Raven tips
Post by: LezGoFishing on July 05, 2018, 01:47:59 PM
Hey there,
I am just getting started in the sport and have been bank fishing at Loch Raven a few times. Do you guys have any tips or tricks as to what works for LMB there this time of year? Also any favorite spots if you are nice enough to tell me. ~roflmao TIA

Welcome again and I do a lot of bank fishing myself since I don't have a boat. I live in Illinois but I'm sure they will work just as well up by you also. I throw a lot of GY Senko's Texas rigged and if you have cover and pads and stuff like that if you don't have any get yourself some Holly Body frogs .

Tia,
Easiest tips are to follow the weather as if you were out there all day everyday. If it's hot and sunny, most people would prefer shade, AC, and something to lean on. This is similar to a bass. Presentations will be slower for the most part.
When the weather is cooler, windier, and cloudy - bass are more inclined to have more energy to hunt and go after moving baits.
Hope that helps

Since you are fishing from the bank and he grass could be a issue, I would throw soft jerk baits across the top of the grass, top waters ( pop r and tiny torpedo) and a small square bill crank bait. If you have access to deeper water a small plastic worm always works!

LezGoFishing Have you been to Anglers Express, a local tackle store located near the Timonium fairgrounds(Hunt Valley) Ask for the owner Eric, he is a wizard on that reservoir. He and his staff can point you in the direction of the right lures and areas to fish from a boat or shore.
Another option is to go there during the week and rent a boat and electric trolling motor for a reasonable fee. This allows you to get off the shore. If you want more info I live in Baltimore County MD and fish many of our waters. You can pm me or send an email to .
Good fishing ~cf
