Title: Alligator Alley MM41
Post by: big g on August 12, 2018, 12:19:56 PM
Sunday 8/12/18
MM 41
6:30-11:00
Light wind
Stained water
Water levels normal rainy season
W/T 84*

I picked up Roberto early and we ran west to the Indian properties.  It was a beautiful morning early,  but it got hot around 10:00.  We fished the north side and it might as well been Chernobyl.  We threw the kitchen sink at them, and after about two hours I caught one suicidal bass about 1.5 pounds.

We knew Lou and Rick were out there somewhere, so we went on a search mission.  We found them on the south side, east of where we were fishing.  We spent some time fishing behind them, shooting the crap, and watching Rick catch trees.   Lol lo   We caught A few more and a mudfish on the south side.  The water was a little cleaner here.  It was a pleasant morning, and nice seeing the boys out on the water.  We both had other obligations we had to attend too, so we departed early at 11:00,  and frankly it was enough.  Storm clouds were building to the west.  Fishing was tough, but still better then sitting home watching the tube.  Thanks Roberto for sharing the trip!!!!!

Thanks again for the trip George. It was fun even though I didn't catch anything.
I threw the following lures and nothing.
Popping hallow body frog
Jig with a crawler trailer
Super fluke
Paddle tail swim bait on a jighead
Senko Texas rigged
Senko Wacky rig
Chatterbait

The only lure I got any nibbles was Gambler's version of a uvibe

It was a learning experience.
I saw Lou catch a nice one. Wish I could have seen the monster that got away from Rick

Sounds like it was tough. Were they moving water again?

Yeah, the North Canal had a noticeable East current. Water was flowing pretty good by the weir and it was surprising that the fish weren't stacked there.

That current was coming from that angled canal that is from the north west.  We noticed the current flowing and there were two guys parked at the weir.  They said they did very well that morning.

Yeah, I figured as much George. When the current on that North canal is flowing East, that angled canal is the cause.

One thing I have learned this summer fishing in the glades are that the  feeding windows are short. Couple of hours in the early morning, and couple in the late afternoon.

Your right about that, and tight to cover too.  Not deep in the canals during these hot months.
