Title: Method that secures ANY soft plastic
Post by: saltystick on January 16, 2019, 10:52:50 AM
Been using wire for over 10 years and found it far superior to glue. What you need:
Coated floral arrangement wire

pliers and wire cutters or nail clippers

Line the wire under the line eye post:

Wrap one side around once tight and snip it close:

Bend the wire:

The wire swings into or out of the lure doing the least damage and holds it no matter how many fish are caught.

All my jigs of any size have the L attached:

The wire L can be attached to a skirted jig to hold the trailer up, the difference being that the wire is attached with a zip tie over the skirt tie.

Tip: use jigs that don't have lure-secure barbs on the hook shank

Other than bait keeper on jigs, the wire can also be added to a wide gap hook to secure swimbaits.
1. Bend the wire around a nail 3-4X
2. Secure to the eye of the hook with a loop bend.
3. As usual, attach the lure by twisting the spring shaped wire into it.

I find it works better than those little springs attached to wide gap hooks.

I also use the wire as a trailer keep on skirted jigs:
