Here's the way I secure my A-rig on my rod to keep it completely tangle free.
Any half liter drink bottle with a wide top will do. Here I took a Powerade / Gaterade bottle and cut the bottom off.
Then put any one of the A-rig hooks onto the reel or hook keeper if you have one, then simply slide the bottle over the top of the rod and down over the A-rig.
Nice and secure and dirt cheap.

Too bad you won't use it. I know how much you like A-rigs. lo
Steve,
I will be using it as soon as I have soft water.
Another A-rig tip; use a heavy duty snap instead of tying directly to the A-rig. Saves line and simplifies things a lot.

Awesome idea!
That's a great idea for the guys that use them.
Thanks for the kudos guys.
I put it to the test over this past weekend and it worked out perfectly. Never got a single tangle with surround rods on the deck or in the rod box.
Even my fishing buddy/partner was impressed and went out to buy a Gaterade bottle as soon as he could.
I tested out your idea last weekend on Table Rock and it worked as advertised. Great idea. ~c~

Brilliant. Best tip I've seen in several years.

I was thinking of something similar, but never got around to giving it a try. Glad to see it works out. I will be doing this soon.
I don't use a A rig but if I did that would be a great way to keep all them hooks out of everything. ~c~
