Hi all........Fished Echo this Sunday...Started out bad....Spent some time with grandchildren, that was nice........Ended up catching 5 nice ones. LM that is on Sanko , smoke color in 7-10 ft. of water.
Glad to hear you are still catching fish.... Was your sanko weighted? or weighless?
Hi Mike.........I put a very small weight on it. (split shot)
Do you put it close to the senko or up the line a bit? I know so many questions, but I just don't catch fish with a senko and am trying to figure it out. Seems like I do a lot of things wrong
If there is wind I use a weight, but its better without one, they fall better. I also learned this yr. to fish them slow. I was always too quick to retrive. I was having truble this yr. setting the hook too but found that its also me not keeping an eye on my line. I'm getting better! ;D good luck to you!
Fish Echo lake today for 3 hours. Felt good to be back on the water. I managed to catch 4 bass and some perch. All the bass were keepers with one going around 3 1/2 pounds which was the first one I caught. I caught all of them one my favoirte spring lure a jerk bait. I was using a Lucky Craft Pointer 78 in Aurora gold. They all came with the boat being in 12 feet of water and casting to the shore. Fish all came out of about 6 feet of water. Finally.
Hey Rob...You beat me there. Glad to hear you got out soo soon..Where did you put in? Is the water up?
I put in at the State Ramp. Yes water is plenty high
Got back out this morning with a good friend for a few hours. We absolutly with them up with jerk baits. Got around 25 bass all keepers. One weighing 6-1. What a nice fish. Was windy and water temp was 53. All fish were caught on jerk baits in 7 feet of water.
Husband David just finished with surgery things went well so now we are looking forward to the day WE CAN GET OUT THERE. Thanks for the report.
Glad things went well hope you can get on the water soon.
Sounds like you had a great day, I hope soon we will be seeing a lot of fishing reports coming from your neck of the woods....
Glad to hear that David is out and doing good. Keep us up to date on his progress..
Sorry guys fished Echo Lake today instead of entering the contest..... ~shade I caught 2 keepers...One on a tube and one on a Senko that ~sun was actually out, and NO ~rain today......but there is more coming.......so now do you understand? I'll catch the contest on another Tue.
What time were you out on the lake? I was actually there till around noon time. There was only one othe boat there while I was there was that you and your husband?
No I work until 1pm.....We got out there about 3pm and fished until 6:30. You will see our Nitro at the dock on the campground side. We use it there and take our Ranger everyplace else. Sorry we missed you!
Is the Nitro at the campground now? I see one over there. Ok so it was someonelse that was there. I never got close enough to tell what type of boat it was. Don't know when your planning on going back but the there are a lot of fish getting ready to move on beds at Echo. Keep a close eye. They were really starting to move good when i left on Tuesday. I almost called in sick lol.
We want to stay there this weekend if the weather is ok.....We saw that too did you catch anything? See you on the lake!! Yes the nitro is there at my sons dock soon there will be another boat there too, and my grandchildren will be fishing off the dock too.
I caught 5 fish early that were staging to go on the beds. Then about noon is when i saw them moving up. I caught 4 fish off the beds and new if I stayed or started looking harder for bedding bass I wouldn't have went to work.
Wow, I don't know if I would still have a job or not :roll2: If they were moving up I would have been on the hunt for a hawg. Thanks for the update ~c~
Mike I thought about it staying long and hard. Since the new company took us over 22 people have been let go. 13 a week ago alone so with that in mind I went to work.
:shocking: WOW :shocking: Well the good news is that you are valuable to the company and after lay offs like that they sure are going to keep you ~c~ Got to have a job to fish, at least until you make fishing your job ;)
Hello....We stayed at Echo this weekend caught a few largest was 2.8 she came off a bed. Things were slow very slow. The weather we are having lately must be the reason. Fishing with the grandchildern was fun!!
Weere you and your husband on the lake on Saturday? If saw I saw you fishing around the island. I got 4 off the beds and 7 others just off. I worked a slob off the island that was on a bed for 2 hours never did get the fish to bite.
Yes Rob we were out there Fri.,Sat. and Sun. What was you biggest catch? Were you in a tourney?
No not in the tourney. Didn't think it was fair because I ws there on Saturday. I fish Sand Dam or Smith and Sayles on Sunday. I got a 5-9 there on Saturday.
Tritonrob........Where is Smith and Sayles?
That was pretty good size.....wtg!!
Smith and Sayles or its otherwise know as Sand Dam. Its off 44 after the State Police Station.
Oh, ok we fish there too! I thought it was a new lake we missed! ;D
Fished Echo again this weekend....caught some keepers but nothing of size.... :'( I tried but still kicked Hubby's butt!!
Tritonrob, We fished this past weekend and David caught a 6 lb er. My son was with us and it was the first big fish he saw his father catch.....Nice fathers day present. He was doing a jig because he caught it with a homemade jig. :roll2: Me I was happy for him but darn I wish I cast to that spot first. Maybe my day will come
Mike and Laurie.... we used the Mega Strike attractant which we are going to buy more!
Sounds like you had a great day on the water WTG! yeah you can't beat the Mega Strike it is the real deal and you won't catch me with out it again. Now if we could just get the mail man to give Lipripper his we will be set ;)
Sweet tell him congrats on a nice fish. Nothing better than that on Father;'s day. I won't be back on there till after Labor Day. Echo is becoming one of my favorite RI lakes.
lots of traffic on there anyway... we stay away on weekends.....
Yes busy but I'm not going to let the fine me the 100 bucks for launching off the state ramp. They started last year to give tickets even to people using their electric motors.
Last yr. it was $50. are you sure of the cost? Go camping at Echo camp ground and you have a ramp to put in.
No everyone was getting wacked liked a 92 dollar ticket. So stupid. I fought one last year on Stump Pond on Smithfield and won. It seems like its the new younger DEM officers. The older ones don't seem to bother us.
ARE YOU SAYING YOU CAN GO ON STUMP POND NOW?
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ITS NOT THE PEOPLE THAT FISH ITS OTHERS
THANKS FOR THE INFO!
Should be able togo to Stump. I was told by a DEM Officer that Stump was on the lsit as being able to launch there just not to use the any motors over 10 HP. As far as I know they are done with the Dam. I believe they finished it late last year.
8)Thanks for the info.........
Good Luck this year, catch a lunker!!
Hi all....Been fishing Echo almost daily during the week. The weekends are too busy... It's peaceful during the week. Caught lots of bass. My big fish this year was 3 lbs. LG. but the season is not over. I caught it on a jig at about 9pm.
Just wanted to post this here........I caught a 5 lb. LM at Echo this week, it was around 8:30 pm and it was dark. Boy was it exciting.... I used my favorite senko and bam there it was. Ihad to measure him 3 times. Then back inhe went!
WoooHooo that is awesome, did you get a pic before you let her go :-\
:'( The camera seems to always work when David gets his picture taking size fish but the flash didn't work at this time. Darn! Hopefully next time!
