Title: Decision On New Reel
Post by: Bretts_daddy on April 03, 2019, 09:30:34 AM
Well, I just purchased a Shimano Curado DC! It was between that and the Daiwa Tatula SV. In the end I just felt drawn to the technology in the DC, I had a 30% off coupon code at Academy Sports so I ended up getting my new DC for $185 shipped. I'm sure I couldn't have gone wrong with either reel but for me this year's new reel is the DC. It was close as I want to be able to skip docks and everybody said that the Tat SV was the best dock skipping reel but I just did a lot of research and there's a lot of people who say the DC will skip very well too on the 4 setting so hopefully I'll be getting the best of both worlds as far as skipping and bomb casting. Now if the ice would just all melt up here in the North we'd be in business  :).

Fantastic! Great price too! Enjoy and keep us informed on how it works for you. I plan on getting one or more myself this year. Can't wait!

Enjoy using the DC tech. I liked it, but didnt do enough for me to warrant it over a regular braking system. Who knows, it could be the helping factor for skipping docks. I dont have any reason to skip a bait under docks, as we dont have many where I fish. Then again, I have SV reels, and Magforce reels. Let us know what you think of it...when the water turns back into liquid form of course.  lo

Not sure about the DC technology on the newer Curados. It works great on the DC7 I have which is older, but it isn't the best for pitching. Not enough time for the brake system to engage in my opinion.

But hopefully the Curado DC you got gets the job done for skipping and pitching.

Here you don't skip under docks, you skip under tree branches. Same difference except many times the tree branches are lower to the water than a dock.

Beat me to it! Lol. I just let Rick clear the path for me. I can tell where he has been casting the week before. Lol

This keeps getting off topic, but I seen this and immediately thought about this conversation.
