Public Hearing Scheduled for Proposed Marine Bait Rules

DURHAM, NH — The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on proposed marine bait rules on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwin Road, Portsmouth, NH.
The Department will be taking public comment on proposed rules to reduce the risk of viral agents, parasites, and nuisance species being transferred into New Hampshire waters via bait, thereby enhancing the protection of the marine resources of the state. The proposed marine bait rules include:
Restrictions on the purchase, sale, and use of marine bait.
Requisite to obtain a Marine Bait Permit and mandatory reporting for marine bait dealers.
An approved list of marine baits allowed in NH waters.
Definitions of terms in the proposed marine bait rules.

Written public comments on the proposals may be submitted until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2019.
