Title: New MotorGuide Tour Pro
Post by: caddyjoe77 on February 18, 2020, 01:09:12 AM
Bo mentioned this to me when he was down here recently.

This thing looks awesome!! The one thing i dont like on the ultrex is that it seems loud and it turns real fast.  Now, get me a quiet troller with cable steer for more fine tuned control -- maybe heaven?

motorguide seems to have really brought the chips to the table

The Motor Guide doesn't much different from the Ultrex in design.

The Ultrex is noisy, much noisier than I expected but, if I could afford and were to make a change I'd opt for the Garmin. All the benefits of the brushless motor is a really big deal.

I like what they have built into this motor. If I get to a point that I can replace mine it will be with this one. I'm just a motor guide guy. But raising grand kids and new man toys don't mix... :surrender: :'(

Except a metal foot control, cable steering and quieter 😁.  Garmin would be second on my list.

Have an ultrex now. Works fine so not updating anytime soon. Just wanted to throw this out there since I didn't see any chatter about it.

I haven't heard the Garmin, Lowrance, or MG units in person. The Ultrex is also power assist cable steer like MG, but as you are also painfully familiar with, that dang whiny sound from the gear reduction motor when it moves fast is awful.

yep, and if you look at the youtube video i linked you will see some somewhat ok video that kinda shows the noise differences -- although ultrex isnt included.  Only the newest ones MG, Garmin and Lowrance.  the Lowrance is SHOCKINGLY loud.
