Title: Looking for a Z18 brand new
Post by: zippyduck on March 15, 2020, 12:44:09 PM
My neighbor is looking for his retirement boat. We need to look at it in person to get measurements for his garage or if he needs to redo his driveway. He could use mine but it has too many boats already.

He is looking at the Z18 and wants to put talons on it. We are mainly worried about the height.

Does anyone have one and can give us the measurements or is there a place near the Pittsburgh are that has one on hand?

Don't those Talons fold across the back deck and lay horizonal?

They will tilt but you have to purchase the tilt mounts separately. I have them on my Triton.

Tks for that piece of information.  I've not checked those out up close.  I just though that was the way they were designed.  Something to remember if I decide to go with that piece of equipment.

When you're traveling down the highway do you have them stowed in the horizonal position?

I should have said previous Triton. My Z18 has PPs.

No, you travel with them upright. The tilt brackets are no joke, though, marine stainless, heavy duty.

He is ordering the brackets for the Talons. He just needs the overall height of the trailered boat.

What length Talons? They are 3 sections now, so an 8ft only sticks up 3 feet or so.

The center of my PP mount is 37in off the deck. Talons should install at pretty much the same height or close to it.

If he doesnt need the tilt brackets, that's $500 he can spend on something else.

He is getting 8 footers. He only has 76" to get into his garage. so this is our biggest concern. We will build a carport if we have to.

We are probably building one for me as it is.
