Title: Raker Prop Failure
Post by: bobhuberman on May 06, 2020, 01:51:56 PM
 >:( I have a Raker 3-blade prop with about 100 hours on it that lost a blade.  Did not hit anything.  Was cruising about 55 mph and felt a vibration when I slowed.  Vibration got worse and when I pulled be boat I found the prop had lost a blade.  No damage or even nicks in the other two blades.  No damage to the lower unit or skeg.  The blade simply came off.  I'm hoping Evinrude will replace under warranty.  Anyone else have a similar problem?

Wow sorry to hear this. Not sure how that is even possible.

I've never heard of such a thing. Must have been a bad batch of metal.

Took the prop to an Evinrude dealer.  Man there said he'd seen one like that before.  It was caused by a faulty weld at the factory during manufacturing.  I got a brand new replacement free of charge.  The dealer (York River Marine) couldn't have been nicer.  Back on the water!

That's awesome! You can bet he's a busy dealer.
