I purchased this MinnKota Power Box at the same time I purchased my New to me Bass Hunter.

These power boxes have been out in the market for many years, but I'm fortunate to have come across these boxes when I was doing my small boat research.

Pretty cool box, it protects the battery from the elements, as well as having built in fuses, and a 12 volt receptacle.

I highly recommend this MinnKota Power Box for small boats, or if your 12 volt is exposed to the outside while your fishing.

They are pretty cool. Does it include the battery? If so, what size?

No the box does not include the battery. Its a box for a battery, it will hold a 24 or 27 series battery.

Good to know. I've looked at the Dakota lithium powerbox which comes in 10ah or 40ah before but the battery alone is the expensive part. The next kayak might be an open deck platform and a box like these would be ideal. I understand running lithium for a trolling motor battery because deep cycle are so heavy but my little 7ah weighs 4 pounds and cost $25 not $200!

I would love to run Lithium, but its way out of budget for me. A compact battery along with less weight are a definite advantage on these smaller boats though.

Yes these are nice battery boxes.  I sold quite a few when I had the store.  Never received a bad review.

Awesome! They work great. Mine was recently stolen (my fault for not locking it up). Need to get a new one.

I just purchase one of these at Dick's Sporting Goods for 54.99 then a 10 off 50 coupon, so a nice deal.   Very nice unit; I should add that my new 29DC Everstart Maxx battery fits perfectly in it.

Thought I'd pass that along.

The External Positive terminal of my power box melted. I emailed MinnKota this morning explaining my situation, and their response was since the Power Box was under warranty they were shipping me a NEW top with 0 questions asked. You can't beat that. Thanks MK.

New MK Power Box top, arrived yesterday while I was fishing. Quick delivery. I'm impressed on how quickly and efficiently MK handled my Power Box top issue.

Here's a tip. Handle the external terminals with care. When you're connecting either a charger or TM to the external terminals, screw on the wingnuts carefully. Tighten but do not over tighten and crank them down.

I knew of this by observation already, but I allowed someone to handle a battery connection, and they cranked down on the wing nut so hard that it caused  the terminal to strip from housing.

Moral of the story, be mindful of those terminals.
