My apologies for not opening the July BFT thread earlier.

How is July treating everyone so far?

I haven't banked fish in July yet, and at the current pace, I probably won't be this month.

What adjustments in your fishing approach do guys make this time of year in the heat of summer?

Well I'm 3/4 of the way home from my vacation in North Carolina and I stopped to stay with family. We all went to a local pond and decided to wet a line.

The oldest little cousin was taking one off the hook when I got there. I saw the fish were schooling on the surface chasing bugs so I put on a Menace Grub and started burning it just under the surface.

I don't know how many fish I landed. 25? 30? 40? Every single one was 7-8" long, and then I had one fish that was 13.5".

After I caught 4 or 5 in less than ten minutes, I showed my little cousin what I was doing and how I was fishing the bait. He said he had only ever bobber fished so fishing a moving bait was foreign to him. In no time he was hooking up almost every cast. He probably landed a dozen more by the end of the night and lost just as many at the bank. I quit fishing and just watched him keep catching fish after fish. Watching that was more fun than catching them anyways.

At the end of the night, I cut off the jig head I was using and gave it to him and an entire pack of Menace Grubs. Hopefully he can really get into bass fishing and enjoy the sport like I did growing up.

He said in this pond he very rarely catches any bluegill and that it's all bass. So clearly the bass have taken over this pond. If I ever get the time, I will have to go somewhere and catch a bunch of bluegill to throw in this pond, and then cull out a bunch of these stunted runt bass. It's been 90 degrees and up lately so I haven't been out at all. To dang hot for me plus work has kept me busy as heck. Looking forward to a break in the heat when it comes.

I haven't bass fished for much of July, but I was fortunate to hit up the local canal and I didn't get skunked.

Little guy that's for sure, but seeing how that was the only bass I saw in the outing, I'll take it. :)

It's been the same for me, we've had almost 19 days straight of 90+ degree weather and almost 40 total days of 90+ weather this year.  It's just far too hot to be out bank fishing right now.

We had a small break in the rain and my son was at school. The river is still high and dangerous for boating due to all the rain, so I picked up the only rod I had in the house and went bank fishing.
The rod happened to be a new-to-me froggin' set-up  ;D

I was only at the pond for an hour before a storm rolled through, but I landed 4 bass all on a HBF. They weren't monsters and I'm glad, because I didn't have my IBG ruler with me  lo

I have been catching continuously from the bank in Weston.  Have to fish slow and just pull along the bottom with a senko type, U-Vibe, or trick worm.  Last night caught 8 in an hour.

~tumble ~   ~goof  ..... doing my rounds and checking in. Anyone been been bank fishing?? Any luck??

I for one, have not been bank fishing much this summer.  Water is HOT and the bass are non-existent. Storms help cool the water off and develop current in certain areas, but besides that, the water is still/stagnant. Did I mention its been HOT  ~sweat ~sun ~sun.....  lo lo Hope you guys are doing well.  ~beer~

Have been bank fishing almost everyday.  Bite has been slow but steady.  Most bites deep.  Pics may follow.
