Title: Best Accessories for a 16'6" Bass Boat
Post by: lugersnatcherfishing on November 12, 2020, 09:57:13 PM
Hello gentlemen,  :help:
I recently purchased a 16ft '92 Bluefin Spectrum on which I fish in SE Michigan and its numerous public lakes for Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Pike. I am new to owning a vessel, and would like to know of any accessories that can enhance my boat owning experience, be it technology or basic DIY additions I can do myself. Thank you all in advance.
Tight lines,
Connor  ~cf

For starters what ever the Coast Guard says is required, it's for your safety. A couple of good bumpers, the best electronics you can afford, raingear, a good first aid kit, a basic tool kit, extra plugs, maybe a prop and a prop for your trolling motor. You may find the inflatable PFDs more comfortable, good mooring lines pliers, line cutters any other small tackle tools you may want. I'm sure I'm missing some things and I'm sure others will add to the list.

PLB is a must have in my opinion.

Really depends on what you have now and what you want to have.

The basics are things like:

Anchor and Rope.
Tool Kit
Fish/Depth Finder
Trolling Motor
Good Batteries.
Life Jackets for all that will be on board.
Whistle or Horn.
Throwable Devise (think a throw cushion).

Check with the State and Coast Guard Guidelines for Your Length Boat. Make sure you have it all.

Then you can start to think about how much room you have for Rods, Tackle, Cooler, Net, etc.
Try NOT to make your boat deck so "busy" that it becomes a trip hazard.

Add a emergency bilge pump with alligator clips and enough hose to go over the side. In an emergency, throw the pump in the back area, clip to the battery and put hose over the side.

Don't see a paddle mentioned. It has multiple uses as well as being required in some states.
