I am seeing reports that new boat sales are doing very well since the covid hit the U.S. That of course means more waterway crowding is likely to continue with watercraft of just about all types. Recently I have been thinking that this will also contribute to even longer delays getting service or repair work done. If you are planning on having any of this work done as part of your spring preparation, I would suggest that you should be making your appointments right away. If the increased sales translate to more service demand then you could be in for a long wait to receive service.

My boat guy, Jack, told me over a year ago that used boats were becoming a very hot commodity. Basically anything that you can slap an outboard on that floats is marketable. The used market is even hotter than the new market. New boat prices along with associated delays and shortages is helping drive the used boat market.
An unfortunate side effect is that the situation also creates a huge sucker market, so folks shopping for a boat need to be extremely careful.
