Title: NEW Mercury motor!!
Post by: BassmanRudy on February 11, 2021, 11:13:28 AM
600HP. V12. Dual prop. The lower unit TURNS not the motor itself!

How long til someone straps this on a Bullet/Basscat/Allison?!?!

Geeez! We have fools operating boats on our waters now who have never owned a boat and they have way more horsepower than they can handle now.

I wonder what the torque & feedback is like with only the foot turning. Obviously I'm sure they've worked out the kinks on a new design but.. I'm curious to know how that feels versus how steering works now.

And if that will make it's way to other motors at some point.

I like it though. I guess if I were gonna buy one of those big 42' salt water boats I'd much rather buy two 600's instead of 4 400's. Upkeep & maintenance on 2 motors would be better than 4. Plus I bet the cost of 2 600's is less than the cost of 4 400's, or at least similar.

Very niche market. Disappointing, really!

Polaris- I def see this offering directed towards the saltwater (35'+ boat) fishing guys. Like you mentioned 2 motors instead of 4, less upkeep, possibly better cruising speed/range/fuel economy.

Yeah when I seen all the bass guys pushing this I was kind of excited about it.  I think this is more directed towards saltwater boats and the guys with big boats on the Great Lakes up here!

I think they all thought it was going to be an electric 250hp of some sort! Replace the gas tank with some solid lithiums in series and never buy gas again!

There are Big Water Guys running 4-6 motors now. With this they can drop to 2.

Definitely a Niche Market but there must be one or they wouldn't be making one for it.

Oh please, we have enough "STUPID" up here than we need already. I don't think it'll make it's way into the bass boat market but Id try one before I voted against it.

Yeah I know about the stupid, haha, figured the guys with the larger boats would run these on the Great Lakes, that would most likely twist a bass boat!!!
