Title: BPS Carbonlite rods any good?
Post by: lacofdfireman on March 12, 2021, 12:25:16 PM
It's BPS Spring sale going on right now a s wondering if the Carbonlite rods are any good for the price?  Or is there something better for the price?   Looking to buy 3-4 rods and reels during the sale.

I don't have any of the new carbonlites but the old ones have been great for me! Light and have held up well.

I too have several of the older models and I have no complaints.  They are light, sensitive, and bullet proof.  One I use almost everyday.

Carbonlite 2 rods are my favorite.

Light. Balanced. Sensitive. Strong.

But I don't think they are on sale except for the Spinning Combo this year. Or I missed it.

Sorry for the dumb question but is this a good deal at $179?

About a $60 savings over buying them separately.  I've never owned either, so can't speak to quality or usability.

I bought my first combo when they had them on sale for $120. Amazing deal.

They have worked excellent for me. Reels are Dual Braking, meaning they have cyntrifical brakes (6 pins) inside the cover and mag brakes outside the cover.

The Rods are sensitive enough that I can feel each blade of grass the lure touches and had to learn what was a hit and what was not.

I have two combos in MH.  Two H 7'6" Flipping Rods. Happy with all of them.

Also have a Reel that I bought on sale that I put on a Rod I already owned.

Can't say anything bad about the ones I got.

For the money it's an excellent rod, except for cranks and spinner/buzz/rattle type baits are all I use, that price for a combo is excellent also.

I ended up buying a Shimano SLX Rod.

I have several of the Carbonlite 2 rods and I think 1 or 2 of the original Carbonlite rods. To be honest for the price I think they are an outstanding rod.  The only issue that I have ever really had with all of mine is that they change color so the pretty white  is now an ugly tan on every single one of them.
