out friday night after work. hoping to find some magic and some 20+ inch fish. did not happen. did get to see some great lightning and was able to be completely soaking wet running through a rainstorm back to the ramp.
evening started out overcast/partly cloudy with building cumulo-nimbus clouds. 80°F air temps with a light breeze out of basically the NE. tough to really tell wind direction as the lake/channels twist/turn and wind gets re-directed depending upon orientation.
water temps up the Hiwassee arm are quite a bit cooler than main lake. 67°F - 68°F was what I saw for reading. current was a bit variable. when I started, Hiwassee dam was releasing around 4000 cfs but dropped after about an hour to around 40-50 cfs. slowed the bite considerably.
caught a few short fish (one that pushed 15 inches) off a bluff end current break. that was about it. then the weather set in. and then cleared up just as I got to the ramp. But did get an absolutely stunning photo...
